FAQ

How do I connect Screen Time permission?

Open Prayr and follow the setup step for Screen Time or app blocking. iOS will show Apple permission screens for FamilyControls and Screen Time. Confirm the permission so Prayr can read selected app tokens and apply shields to the apps, categories, or websites you choose.

If permission was denied, open iOS Settings, find Prayr, and enable the requested Screen Time related permissions if available. You can also return to Prayr and start the blocking setup again.

How do I choose apps, categories, or websites to block?

In the app blocking setup, choose the apps, app categories, or websites you want Prayr to shield. Prayr uses Apple's Screen Time selection system, so your actual selections are represented by Apple Screen Time tokens rather than normal app names stored on a server.

How do I unlock apps by praying?

When an app is blocked, open Prayr and complete the prayer or check-in flow. Prayr may show a Bible verse, a short reflection, and generated prayer text. After the prayer is completed, Prayr updates the local unlock state so selected blocked apps can be opened for the configured unlock period.

What should I do if blocked apps do not unlock?

First, reopen Prayr and confirm the prayer flow fully completed. Then wait a moment for iOS Screen Time shields to refresh. If the shield remains, force close and reopen Prayr, check that Screen Time permission is still enabled, and confirm the selected apps are still part of your block list.

If the issue continues, restart your iPhone or iPad and contact support with your device model, iOS version, and a short description of what happened.

How does emergency unlock work?

Emergency unlock currently gives a temporary 15 minute unlock without completing a prayer. It is intended for urgent access when you genuinely need to open a blocked app quickly.

How does the daily reset work?

Prayr tracks daily reset state on your device. At the start of a new day, blocked app access and prayer progress can reset so the next unlock requires a fresh prayer or check-in.

How are notifications used?

Prayr may use local notifications for prayer reminders, streaks, or app flow reminders. You can allow or revoke notification permission in iOS Settings at any time.

How do I change language?

Prayr supports English and German. You can change the preferred language inside the app. The app currently requires a restart before the new language is fully applied everywhere.

How do subscriptions and paywalls work?

Prayr may offer paid subscription features through Apple's in-app purchase system. Paywalls and subscription state may be managed with Superwall. Payment is handled by Apple, and the app developer does not receive your payment card details.

How do I restore purchases?

Use the restore purchase option in Prayr if it is shown on the paywall or subscription screen. You can also make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID that originally purchased the subscription.

How do I delete local app data?

Based on the current app behavior described for this support page, local Prayr data is deleted by deleting the app from your device. Do not rely on an in-app Delete Account button for full data deletion unless the app has been updated to actually clear SwiftData, UserDefaults, Keychain, and app-group data.
